Timeless Edition is proud to present this oversized luxurious book of previously unpublished drawings of Serbian artist Vladimir Velickovic. Nightmarish, the work of Vladimir Velickovic reflects the miserable fate of the flesh. Death, human cruelty and decay are recurring themes. Landscapes of desolation abound, sometimes overloaded with distressing details. The fear is palpable. In the same way, the color range is reduced, amplifying the apocalyptic vision of the work.
Velickovic’s bestiary speaks for itself: rats, eagles, vultures, hyenas, wolves, ravens and pit bulls, all hungry for human flesh; a long parade of scavengers, corpse eaters and diseases emissaries. Moreover, we recognize in his art certain stylistic similarities with another great painter of the twentieth century and also a great witness of human suffering, Francis Bacon. And we think of the war paintings of Goya or, closer to us, those of Otto Dix. A lifetime to paint suffering, death, blood, arbitrariness, and the unsustainable permanence of barbarism.
