Reptiljan combines the blast-beats of grindcore and the broken rhythms of drill’n’bass/ breakcore, samples in everything from 1980’s heavy to modern hip-hop and lets in a good dose of abrasive noise and distortion.
Reptiljan is a manic burst of noise, hectic rhythms and splintered guitars, making the listener squirm, laugh uncontrollably and see lizards on the walls.
Reptiljan is a mutant radiating energy, related in spirit to artists like Napalm Death, Venetian Snares, Kid606, Painkiller (John Zorn, Bill Laswell, Mick Harris), Beherit, who are breaking the different boundaries of music.
Reptiljan is a violent and humoristic combination of different styles and something completely new.
Reptiljan is music you can laugh at! This music is far removed from the dead seriousness and graveness all too often connected with electronic music. Reptiljan’s latest gig came to a grinding halt after just three minutes burst of ruckus and tormented beats as the PA went silent, leaving the artist swearing and laughing. The audience reacted with applause spiced with laughter. Even the mystical Snap Crackle Pope was laughing into his mitre somewhere behind the curtains…!
Reptiljan is a project by Niko Skorpio. A project where he lets go all the energy bubbling inside him, sparing nothing. Niko Skorpio has been actively involved in underground music scenes from the beginning of the 1990’s. He has behind him a number line-ups, styles and albums; this album by Reptiljan is the latest and certainly the loudest and most energetic!
The Hellbender Suite is a half-an-hour package of compressed energy, a dirty bomb purifying both mind and soul. In Pangrenade, blastbeats get layered over and over again, growing into an aggressive wall of sound, which collapses under its own weight in order to rise up again. Freegulls is arrogantly pilfering a recent hit, bending it into unrecognizable knots. Outauguration of the Chimp Zombie is an instinctual regurgitation on world politics pouring straight out from the spine... All in all, 11 tracks and 28 minutes.
The Hellbender Suite is dedicated to Nuclear Death, Beherit and Impetigo (cult bands from the change of the 80-90’s, in case you didn't know) and naturally to Cryptobranchus alleganiensis, who lent his name to the album. http://www.soleilmoon.com/mp3/07699.mp3

File under sample terrorism! Location recordings, recontextualized classical music, experiments with noise and so-called 'cinematic isolationism' by the late Henry Zalkin (also Bulimia, etc.). 4 tracks, 70 minutes.

"Janko Krul Albanskaj is the work of the late Heikki Huhtanen a.k.a. Henry Zalkin. Utilizing a collage of disparate sound sources (samples galore: from third world ambience to classical diversions to radio noise... to noise itself, and more!), Janko Krul Albanskaj manipulated the sounds into brittle sonic texts of confusion and chaos.
Three of the four tracks clearly follow a cut and paste, mold and kneed ideology to creation. Distinct sounds bubble to the forefront, take command, and slink back, meshing with the miasma that gurgles below. A classical piece falls by the wayside as world textures skim the surface (Quouack En Maksymardysh); disjointed glitch-like Morse-code timbres dance with singing children (Mokshapark); while caustic techno is enveloped in noise pyrotechnics (Diabolicum KÄYR).
Track two, on the other hand, the 46-minute Mockba, is a dense, molten, raging ocean of kinetic white noise, a sonic vortex! As it evolves, imitation is evident, assimilating the pulse of life within an electronic sound-field as the furiously wind-eroded turbulence tumbles forth. At about the 25-minute mark, classical music slips into focus, the turbulence held at bay. The remainder of the track balances noise and sporadic classical music, masterfully so.

Enigma is an ambient album, with drones and dark ambient elements. Eight imaginary landscapes wavering between the earth and the cosmos, sometimes returning on the dark atmosphere of the first album, but with a few acoustic elements more clear. The album begins with some obscure and enigmatic atmospheres transitioning into more open/light tracks: looped sounds of the played cords of the zither, tubes, treated field recordings and small sounds of shells and bells add layers to the electronic magma. An intimate / introspective CD.

Marc Behrens is an artist and designer working in several fields. He has conceived musical compositions, installations, performances, objects, videos, and design. Born in Darmstadt, Germany, M. Behrens is a citizen of Konungarikena Elgaland-Vargaland (KREV). His discography spans releases on such labels as sirr, trente oiseaux, hypnotism, intransitive, wachsender prozess to name but a few. He has collaborated with francesco lopez, paolo raposo, john duncan and others.

07706 KREUTZFEDLT, DANNY Closeland CDR 12.99
Danish Danny Kreutzfeldt's previous release 'Counterpheripheral' was reviewed in Vital Weekly 479, which had dubby bass lines and clicks in combination with ambient synths. This new release was recorded between 2004 and 2006 and sees a departure of that music in favor of a much more experimental sound. Deeply atmospheric, but much more wayout there than the usual dark ambient music. There is hints towards some form of rhythm, but it's all covered up, twisted around and transformed into alien life support machines. They stand there in the dark, quietly but distinctly pumping their way, forming heavy weight particles falling towards the swamp, where they slowly sink away.

07709 HAMPSON, RICHARD/ STEVEN HESS S/T CD 11.99
A sensible combination, brought to light by a chance contact resulting in a fairly lengthy process of recording, listening, and mixing. Robert Hampson, is, of course, the visionary behind sound behemoths LOOP and MAIN, and even served a highly productive position within GODFLESH, ORGANUM, and also collaborated with JIM O' ROURKE. Steven Hess is a percussionist who provides comfortably obscure rhythms and textures for PAN AMERICAN, FESSENDEN, ON, and HAPTIC.
Together, Hampson and Hess create a delightful peephole into the space where resonance from various percussions exist. These are the indirect moments that are just as real as those obvious times when a drummer nails the snare drum in 4/4 time. This is the stuff that for without, the attack, the beat, the percussion itself, would be lifeless pricks of meaningless sound. These recordings are filled with the active and excited ghost of interaction with material; highly unreal at times, and undeniably human at others. For those familiar with their previous endeavors, this is certain to please. For others, you are about to hear the collaboration of two people who know exactly what they are doing, and have created an even more powerful joined effort. Clearly tasty.
