This new edition of The Thai Occult is the culmination of three years work and covers the Occult practices of Thailand, from amulets to rituals to blessings. What distinguishes the Thai Occult from other systems is its openness, as anyone can begin a life of magic and train themselves using a good amulet. The Thai Occult: Silver edition aims to help those interested in this deep and ancient art, either as a practitioner or to use the details within the book to refresh their own practices. Much of the book consists of interviews with Thailand’s top makers of talismans, but a section on rare Sak Yant has unearthed additional ancient forms of the art. This section is an appendix to the original The Thai Occult: Sak Yant book by Jenx, which should be read first for a better understanding. It is the hope of the author that this book will become a benchmark for the understanding of the ancient Occult practices of Thailand.
The first edition of The Thai Occult was published in 2016 in an edition of 300 copies. With a red cover and 196 pages, it served as an introduction to a subject that was at once of profound cultural significance for Thai people yet was somehow barely known to the outside world. The enthusiastic reaction garnered for his first work inspired Jenx to write a second book in 2017, The Thai Occult: Sak Yant, also available through Soleilmoon. He then undertook the challenge of revising and expanding his original book, moving from Bangkok to Chang Mai to be nearer to the community of magicians who were the subjects of the book. The result of his efforts is The Thai Occult: Silver Edition, coming in at an astonishing 552 pages and weighing nearly four pounds (1.75 Kg). The dozens of stories and interviews, all extensively supported by vivid color photographs, make this book the definitive and indispensable reference source for understanding Thailand’s heritage of traditional occult practices.
