Purifying Fire was a highly anticipated collection of rare and unreleased tracks when it was first issued in 2000 by Soleilmoon. It has been out of print for a number of years, but is now being reissued by Ant-Zen. Covering the years between 1995 and 1998, it includes tracks previously given to a diverse range of labels, including Plug Research, Side Effects, Cold Spring and Placebo Records. This compilation documents a portion of the history of this legendary project and its ongoing development. Full of echoes, deep dark droning tones, noise and sounds which weave and spiral in and out of caverns and voids, this music breathes and broods – culminating in an organic tapestry of natural sounds and electronic combined. This can be music to disappear into, and although it is disturbing and dark, it also contains sheer beauty.
