A double CD containing an hour and 58 minutes of music spanning the entire career of People Like Us, from the earliest days to the most recent, and spread across 37 tracks. Contains remastered solo audio works from the past 30 years as well as collaborations with friends Ergo Phizmiz, Wobbly, Matmos, Mr Rotorvator and Gwilly Edmondez. It’s been more than 20 years since the last retrospective was released (Recyclopaedia Britannica, 2002). Presented in a folding card wallet with full-colour printing. Includes Bandcamp download code.
Since 1991, Vicki Bennett has been repurposing pre-existing footage to craft audio-visual collages, seeing sampling as folk art in the age of mechanical reproduction, with all of the sharing and cross-referencing incumbent to a populist form. Embedded in her work is the premise that all is interconnected and that claiming ownership of an “original” or isolated concept is both preposterous and redundant.
