Description

This album is a recording of the very first Legendary Pink Dots concert in Belgium. With their 40th anniversary, The Dots have a solid and impressive discography to stand on, and it seems that everything has already been done and accomplished. But is there a missing piece to the puzzle? One would be tempted to say no, but here is the live in Kontich at the Lintfabriek recording, with excellent sound quality, and filled to the brim with 79 minutes, including the “intermezzos” typical of the Dots. It is an ideal companion for the two other famous live albums previously released, namely “The Lovers” live side, recorded at De Melkweg in Amsterdam on September 9, 1984, beautiful but too short, just 20 minutes long, and the “Traumstadt 3” cassette, considered by Edward Ka-Spel himself to be their best live document, except that it is not a real full live set, but more of a live compilation. The other live recordings from that generally suffer from inferior sound quality. If 1983/84 remains an important period of development, with their first steps on concert, it is from 1986 that the Dots acquired their musical maturity on stage and raised their status, with the beginning of the first major tours across Europe with a full line-up of band members. Most of the great Dots titles extracted among their best studio albums (“Asylum”, “Island of Jewels”, “The Lovers”, the 12” “Curious guy”…) are on this live in Kontich, perfectly illustrating the energy, cohesion and perfectionism of the group which is here in a way, at its peak. LPD fans will be wowed by the remarkable and poignant live version of “The Heretic”, where the ‘prophet’ was in top form that evening, and they’ll be knocked out by “Neon Gladiators”, among many outstanding track.

NOTE: This is a CDR release. It is not a factory-pressed CD.
