MUSLIMGAUZE – Uzi

Muslimgauze’s gem from the late 80s. Cinematic, minimal, noisy, hypnotic, and gloomy. Less obviously Middle Eastern than his later works, though definitely bearing an influence. Backed by electric drones and percussion, forming a living, breathing atmosphere of impending menace.

This album was not in Vinyl On Demand’s “Chasing The Shadow Of Bryn Jones” 10xLP Box-set. Now you have a chance to complete your Muslimgauze discography!

MUSLIMGAUZE – Salaam Alekum, Bastard

It was not so long time ago in the history of modern music when the influence of musicians on society was tectonic. When an artist’s statement or position could impact the political situation in a country or sometimes even worldwide. When secret services like KGB, Mossad or CIA would consider some musicians as a threat to their agenda because of the artist’s influence on audience’s minds. When in some countries listening to forbidden bands could lead a person to be imprisoned or even killed. When artist’s names would be an inspiration and a symbol of fight for freedom.

It was also a time when artists would not censor themselves and their position in fear of being obstructed and hunted by mob for their supposed political incorrectness. When artistic freedom to honestly express their subjective views, no matter how harsh or extremely reactive the form of expression could be, was more valuable than any possible concerns or fear of hurting anyone’s feelings. When hurting feelings would mean that provocation reached its goal. When idea of speaking out their subjective truth had the highest value for artists, as one of the true meanings of art.

It was a time when music was not safe.

And for us Muslimgauze is definitely one of those artists, whose honesty was neither safe nor correctly comfortable, but still endlessly inspiring.

And the idea of “music as a weapon” became the keystone for this release’s cover artwork.

Recorded and mixed at the Abraham Mosque, Manchester.
Originally released on CD by Soleilmoon in 1995.

Dedicated to the invisible hands of revenge.

MUSLIMGAUZE – Emak Bakia

Emak Bakia – long out of print masterpieces from 1994. Even in the huge Bryn Jones discography Emak Bakia really stands out from other albums of the period due its unique (house-music related) sound and short (by Bryn’s standards) tracks. Like a crossmix between Psychic TV (circa Towards Thee Infinite Beat) and Muslimgauze’s trademark percussion and eastern vibes.
Available again on limited CD (300 copies) and cassette (50 copies). Remastered and with new stunning artwork. Second LP edition pressed on black vinyl, includes folded poster. Third vinyl edition on your choice of gold vinyl or picture disc.

MUSLIMGAUZE – Poster sets

From deep in the archives, and at the request of a customer, comes two sets of Muslimgauze posters.

The first set consists of three large posters produced for “Mazar-i-Sharif” (1998), “Hussein Mahmood Jeeb Tehar Gass” (1999), and “Fakir Sind” (1999). Each of the posters in this collection measures just under 24 x 18 inches (60 x 45 cm). These posters will be shipped rolled in a large and sturdy cardboard tube.

The second set was created in 2010 to coincide with the release of the expanded edition of the 1998 “Uzi Mahmoud” twelve-inch EP. It consists of four posters, each measuring 17 x 11 inches (43 x 28 cm). Two of the posters were off-set printed in editions of 250. Most of them were given away to stores and distributors to promote the LP and CD releases. The other two  are high-quality digital prints that were made expressly for this set. The posters in set two are shipped flat in a stiff cardboard mailer.

If you purchase both collections at the same time (select the option for Sets One and Two) all seven posters will be shipped together, rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube.

MUSLIMGAUZE – Al-Zulfiquar Shaheed

The inescapable Muslimgauze classic, finally available again after 25 years!

Originally released on the obscure French label T.4 back in 1994, Al-Zulfiquar Shaheed stands out as a major long lost showcase of the glorious early to mid-90’s Muslimgauze period. Four intoxicating suites showcasing Bryn Jones’ ability to create lengthy, slow burning and detailed compositions soaked with trance inducing percussive impetus and beautiful — never again to be reproduced — middle eastern atmospheres.

Recorded at the legendary Abraham Mosque in Manchester, the album was carefully remastered by Anders Peterson and is lavishly assembled in our custom 6-panel digisleeve packaging. Artwork by Oleg Galay.

Limited edition of 280 copies.

MUSLIMGAUZE – Shekel Of Israeli Occupation

‘Shekel Of Israeli Occupation’ was never meant to be released. After completion it was withdrawn by Bryn Jones (Muslimgauze) and replaced with the ‘Betrayal’ album, in the fall of 1993. This is the only release of the album in its original form, as intended by Bryn. The material was recovered from a cassette copy of the album as the original DAT was overwritten with new material.

Remixes of the tracks “Khan Younis”, “Jerusalem Knife” and “Yasser Arafat’s Radio” appeared on the album ‘Hamas Arc’. The tracks “Caste” and “Amritsar” appeared on the album ‘Satyajit Eye’. A version of “Drugsherpa” appeared on the mini album ‘Drugsherpa’. Versions of the tracks “Khan Younis”, “Drugsherpa”, “Amritsar” & “Jerusalem Knife” appeared on the extended ‘Drugsherpa’ album. Track 4 is previously unreleased.

Written, recorded and performed by Muslimgauze. Limited to 120 copies.

Track listing:
1 Caste
2 Khan Younis
3 Drugsherpa
4 Iraqikuwait
5 Amritsar
6 Jerusalem Knife
7 Yasser Arafat’s Radio

MUSLIMGAUZE – Untitled

This “nameless” creation was first released by Klanggalerie in 2000, and in a strange way sends the listener back to 1993, to the albums “Betrayal” and “Veiled Sisters”, being their obvious and natural continuation. Slow and soft, like a warm lump of hashish, either a dub or a lounge with an intoxicating sultry sound it immerses the listener in a light trance. It gives you a feeling as if you are lying down for an afternoon nap somewhere on the outskirts of the Palestinian bazaar, and you have no strength to move to shake off your drowsy stupor. People are chatting nearby, something is tapping, and in the background the hum of life and households fills in the spaces.

Screen-printed edition is limited to 111 hand-numbered copies. Standard edition is limited to 300 copies.

All tracks written by Bryn Jones 1993.
Mastered at Future Studios, Vienna, November 1999.
Previously released by Klanggalerie, gg14, January 01, 2000.
Tracks 3 and 13 previously released on limited picture 7″ by Syntactic (muslim 15), March 30, 1996.
